Thursday is the 40th Anniversary of Earth Day. The first one was celebrated in 1970. It was started by a Wisconsin Senator. Earth Day is a day to appreciate nature and think of ways to protect our environment.
On Friday, Mr. Holmes class will head to Silver Lake to help keep the shoreline clean. We'll be sure to get some video from that trip. Mr. Holmes' class is always learning about the environment!
And students in Indian Education will head to Soudan on Friday to visit the underground mine. Another great opportunity to learn about a fascinating part of our environment.

Teachers were seen all over school in their blue T-shirts today, so that could mean only one thing: MCAs! Today marked day 3 of MCA testing, but the first day of math testing. Kids have said they thought the test seemed pretty easy and that they did well. Good luck everyone! Tomorrow is the last day, so Rock The Test!

On the 16TH of April, Annie and Holly Bachschneider brought in baby chicks. When they get older there are going to give it to a friend of their's. Here's a video of them! (WAIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) People say that sometimes having baby chickens can be a good learning lesson because sometimes one night they don't have fethers, the next day they may!! Thank-you Annie and Holly for sharing your baby chicks with us.

Game night was really fun!!! We heard that over 90 people showed up. It was $3 to get in and all the food was 50cents!! You could swim, play in the gym, or make friendship braclets. In the gym, you could choose games from basketball, hoola hooping, or air hockey. Twards the end you could either play medic or do a friendship braclet. During medic, it was the 4th and 6th graders aginst the 5th graders. The very last thing they did was prizes. There were things from Blue Devil pants and hats to crossword puzzle books. You saw alot of people with friends hanging out. Everyone that was there had a blast.

The Dare Graduation was on Friday the 16TH. All of the fifth graders had to do an Dare esay. The winners were Adrinna, Josh, Hannah, Michel, and Morgan. Congrats th you five and all of the runner ups. And all of the fifth graders did an awsome job walking across the stage with a big smile (YOU GUYS SMILE) !!! There were a ton of people there. Officer Nickla is the Dare Officer. Dare stands for Drug Abbuse Restince Edauction. Again, congrats to all of the 5th graders!!

This week on Saturday, the JO volleyball team has their first Tournment in Duluth.Good luck girls. Last week they were in Suripor Wiscon. They did really good. They only have 6 girls on their team and you need six to play so next year 5-6 graders will have volleyball after school and if you enjoy it, you should join!!
Kids who participate in gymnastics for Northern Twistars competed in their meet at Mesabi Community College on Saturday. All competitors performed a floor, beam and vault exercise. Everyone had a good time!
Bring your swimsuits! In just two short weeks, Roosevelt students will be swimming during their phy ed classes.

The Carnivous Carnivle is a great book! It is about 3 kids that follow Count Olaf. Viloet ana Kalus are a two headed freak and there little sister Sunny is the wolf baby. There is a fourtane teller, her name is Madam Lulu. At the end of the book, one of the freaks get shoved to a pit full of lions. The one person is Madam Lulu :( Well if I tell you anything more anout the book, you will know it all so it wouldn't be much fun to read.

Have you ever considered learning to golf? The Municipal Golf Course in Virginia offers Junior golf clinics in June. The cost is 30 dollars. Clinics are set up for ages 11 to 14 and 10 and under. If you already know how to golf, the Golf Course also hosts a Youth League during the month of June. The cost is 45 dollars. Call the Golf Course at 748-7530 for more information.
